Who We Are

We are an independent publishing house. We launched our first book under the publishing name “Poorman Comics”, called “Red Squirrel” in 2013. Our History PoorMan Comics 1st issue “Red Squirrel” was released June 2013 at the Niagara Falls Comic Con. The release was overwhelming and sold half of our issues. Our next stop was FanExpo Toronto. By the end of FanExpo Toronto which was only our 2nd convention, we had sold 100% of the books we planned on selling. We of course kept some books aside for future ComicCons only. Issue 2 of “Red Squirrel - Centurion Cometh”, was released June 2014 at the Niagara Falls Comic Con. Issue 3 of “Red Squirrel - The Death Of Commando Red”, was released June 2015 at the Niagara Falls Comic Con. Issue 4 of “Red Squirrel - Reminiscence”, was released June 2016 at the Niagara Falls Comic Con. Issue 5 of “Red Squirrel - Rightful Heir”, was released June 2nd, 2017 at the Niagara Falls Comic Con. Issue 6 will be released 2021

About The Artist

GORDON SHIPPERBOTTOM

ARTIST/WRITER/CREATOR OF POORMAN COMICS “RED SQUIRREL”

Gordon Shipperbottom is a self-taught Canadian artist who debuted his first book “Red Squirrel” in June 2013 at the Niagara Falls Comic Con. Gordon’s books are published through his own publishing house "PoorMan Comics". Gordon takes pride in drawing every page of each initial issue by hand, using Photoshop to add dialogue only. The pencil, ink, and colour, takes approximately 12 hours per page to complete. One issue is released per year and copies are limited. Red Squirrel will become a graphic novel at the end of the 6-7 issue run and characters from Red Squirrel will have their own spin-off series. Red Squirrel is a metaphor for Blood Crazy. The character is a human/alien hybrid sporting a battle suit from a different universe. He’s holed up in Niagara Falls, weary of a never-ending battle against a galactic threat.
